Dental veneers are a simple way to dramatically enhance the appearance of your smile. At Texas Dental Center, we take pride in our detailed process and artistry to create your custom-made restorations. Drs. Clark Damon and Kari Blankenship can evaluate patients for porcelain veneers during a consultation at our Dallas, Amarillo, or Fort Worth, TX, office. In general, patients who want to dramatically transform their smile with just one cosmetic procedure should consider veneers.
Porcelain veneers are crafted from medical-grade ceramic. These thin shells fit over the front teeth to conceal imperfections and provide improved shape and symmetry. The porcelain is precisely matched with the rest of your smile for a seamless look.
Patients who want to dramatically transform their smile with just one cosmetic procedure should consider veneers.
Dental veneers can address an array of cosmetic concerns, including:
The first step in the treatment process is a consultation with Dr. Damon or Dr. Blankenship. At this appointment, you will discuss your cosmetic goals and we will evaluate your oral health to determine your candidacy. If dental veneers are a viable solution, we will discuss the treatment with you and your potential outcome.
The porcelain veneers process takes two appointments to complete. During the first visit, we will begin the process of reshaping the teeth. To create sufficient space to prevent the veneers from looking bulky and unnatural, we must remove a small amount of your tooth enamel. We will work conservatively and remove as little enamel as possible.
Next, we will use a shade guide to determine the appropriate color for your veneers. This will ensure the porcelain matches your surrounding teeth, making them undetectable to the untrained eye. Once we have selected the shade, we will take impressions of your teeth. These impressions, along with the selected shade, are then sent to a local lab for fabrication. To minimize sensitivity and protect your teeth, we typically provide temporary veneers.
It typically takes about two weeks to receive the porcelain veneers back from the lab. Once we have the permanent restorations, you will return for their placement. First, we will remove the temporary veneers if they were placed. Then we will carefully evaluate the permanent veneers to ensure a proper fit, shape, and color. If everything is satisfactory, we will apply a strong dental cement to the back of the veneers, then firmly press them into place.
Dental veneers are an extremely versatile cosmetic treatment. In just two appointments, you can significantly enhance the appearance of your smile. Porcelain veneers are custom-crafted to look incredibly lifelike. Dr. Damon only works with the best lab in the area to ensure patients enjoy the most beautiful and natural-looking smile possible. With the detailed guidance Drs. Damon and Blankenship provide, patients can ensure their veneers last for years to come.
